Mobile Bumper Repair
All cars have plastic bumpers these days. So if you can imagine, they get damaged really easy. Plastic bumpers, get scratched, dented, cracked, melted, holes, misaligned, etc. Most body shops want to just replace the bumper because it’s easy for them to get a new part paint it and install it. They don’t care how much that costs you. The average bumper to replace these days is $1500-$3000 depending on the make of the vehicle. Lucky for you, this is what we specialize in! If the majority of your bumper is in good shape but you just have an area with cosmetic flaws like a dent, scratch, hole or tear…most of the time we can fix it and make it like new or very close at an affordable price.
The Process
Depending if you bumper has a dent, scratch, hole or tear…the process varies. Dents are removed using heat to reshape. Cracks and tears are welded back together by melting the plastic and using filler. Scratches get sanded and filled with polyester putty. Once it gets to this point all repairs continue the same. The repaired dent, scratch or crack gets primered to fill any remaining flaws, create a smooth surface for paint and adhesion. The primer is then sanded with fine sand paper. The area is then cleaned. Next comes the basecoat color which is sprayed on just like a body shop. After the basecoat dries, two coats of clear coat is finally applied. This is what gives the paint the high gloss and same shine to match your car’s finish. Most jobs take a few hours from start to finish.
